Neighbourhood chachanteng

Spending a lot more time at home these days… Speaking of home, I really love this 街坊茶餐廳 (neighbourhood tea-house) right near my Grandma’s old home where I used to spend lots of time!

According to my friend, a group of youths took over this chachanteng after the original owner decided to retire, but wanted to leave it to youths to make a living for themselves.

So yup, this chachanteng while retaining its nostalgic neighbouhood public estate charm, it has been livened up!

Food wise, the traditional 炸雞髀 Deep fried chicken drumstick, Milk Tea, French Toast 西多士 are all soooooo good!

Happy Meal family restaurant

That’s the vibe of this place! Yes, it’s called Cafe Swan, but it feels more like a kids restaurant!

Not at all in any bad way though… There’s a happy feeling eating here! The burger with an egg on top, the happy fries, the mushroom spaghetti topped with a chicken chop schnitzel…. I didn’t bring a kid with me, but it feels like I’m dining out with my whole family with kids in tow!

I really like this happy feeling! In Hong Kong in the thick of the coronavirus scare, it’s a rare place where everyone can just relax and eat wholesomely with the whole family!

Neighbourhood cafe

This really good cafe started in Tsuen Wan, and it’s expanded to quite a lot of places, including Tseung Kwan O!

Not surprising really… Cause it’s a good mix of affordable prices, a really nice chill environment, great coffee, and a very wide variety of cafe food (with refreshing twists to keep the taste buds interested!)

Had the Cheese and Mushroom Omelette today, and oh, the sauce is yum! So was the Glazed Banana and Bacon Waffles! Topped with a Rose Latte, this made for a great weekend brunch!

黃店之王 – Prince of #yellow

Not wanting to be trapped to eat expensive gimicky Valentine’s Day menus, this restaurant serving Chinese cuisine was a good pick! Best of all, it’s in 1881 Heritage in Tsim Sha Tsui, a really popular romantic spot!

The big surprise? For an upper class Chinese restaurant, the portions were really generous! Taste wise was top notch, like the vegetable cassarole 窩蛋肉碎雜菜煲, the Abalone rice, Sichuan Chicken 四川口水雞… Very authentic flavours, making for a very satisfying meal!

Great place for a really good date-meal!

Lost Stars

This is my favorite restaurant in Hong Kong. Why? Cause the foods are really good, the dishes have a fresh twist (like avocado fries!), service staff are great, and the decor is really comfy.

But that’s not enough, cause in Hong Kong, there’s so much competition! So why No. 1?

Well, what gives this place the extra edge above all the rest, is the live music! Everynight, a not very famous artist(s) are invited, and they play on stage. Good food + good music, that’s what makes this No. 1!

I love this place, you really really must come! “Lost Stars

Healthy foods

This Chinese New Year in Hong Kong, the single biggest wish and blessing is 「身體健康」(Good Health!)

Well, in the midst of this health crisis, here’s a place to eat more healthily! A vegetarian place, but you certainly can’t tell!

The Baked “Pork Chop” Rice was really fulfilling, so too was the “Char Siu” Rice with egg! Oh, and if that’s not satisfying enough, there’s a whole buffet salad bar with all sorts of new menu items to try for free!

It’s really not hard to go green! Wishing everyone a healthier greener life!

Rest…

It’s been a few weeks since I wrote, and so many things have happened! Hong Kong where I live, is in a state of frustration against the obstinate government, and if that’s not enough, everyone is now under constant threat from the Wuhan coronavirus… *sigh*

Though…. Everyone in HK now seems to be taking a rest… Rest to recoup, rest to build up strength, rest to keep going forward!

Rest…. The name of this cafe, perfect for some rest…
